One arm felt weak then fine
Your arm went weak or heavy out of the blue. Maybe you dropped a cup, or the arm felt dead. Then it came back, and now you feel fine.
An arm can go weak for many reasons. A pinched nerve in the neck is one. Sleeping on the arm or straining a muscle can do it too.
Weakness on one side can also mean blood flow to part of the brain paused. Doctors call this a TIA, or mini-stroke. The arm feels normal again, but the cause can still be there.
When to see someone
Call emergency services (911 in the US) now if your face droops, your speech slurs, or one arm drifts down when you hold both up. Sudden weakness on one side needs urgent care even when it has passed, so get checked today. Do not wait if you also had numbness, blurred vision, trouble walking, or a sudden bad headache.
