Can't find the right word
You know the word. It sits just out of reach, on the tip of your tongue. You may talk around it, or say "that thing" instead.
This happens to most people now and then. Being tired, stressed, or rushed makes it more common. So do poor sleep, some drugs, and a low thyroid.
Age plays a part too. Names and rare words tend to slow down first. When the gaps grow, and thinking feels slower too, doctors may call it mild cognitive impairment.
When to see someone
Call emergency help now if speech slurs all at once, or a word salad starts, or one side of the face droops. Book a doctor if the gaps grow fast, or if family notice them more than you do. Also go if you get lost in known places, or miss bills and pills.
Below is a list of remedies people use for mild cognitive impairment. We do not claim any of them will help you. Each one carries a grade for how strong the research is, so read the grade before the remedy.
