What is Tart Cherry (CherryPURE)? Tart cherry (Montmorency variety) is one of the most researched functional fruits in sports nutrition and sleep science. CherryPURE is a branded concentrated powder made from whole Montmorency tart cherries, standardized to deliver a consistent level of anthocyanins — the powerful antioxidant pigments responsible for most of its documented benefits. One serving of CherryPURE is roughly equivalent to drinking a large glass of tart cherry juice, but without the sugar load. How does Tart Cherry (CherryPURE) work? Tart cherries work through two main pathways: their anthocyanins act as natural anti-inflammatories and antioxidants, helping calm the oxidative stress and cellular damage that causes post-exercise soreness and joint inflammation. Separately, tart cherries are one of the very few whole foods that contain naturally occurring melatonin, which directly supports the sleep-wake cycle. Quercetin and other plant compounds in tart cherry also help block enzymes involved in uric acid buildup, which is relevant for gout. What forms does Tart Cherry (CherryPURE) come in? CherryPURE capsules or powder are the most practical form — each serving is roughly equivalent to 100 cherries or 8 oz of tart cherry juice. Tart cherry juice concentrate is the form used in most clinical trials and is effective, but comes with more natural sugar. Whole dried tart cherries are a food-first option but require large quantities to match supplement doses. Where it comes from: Tart cherries have been used in folk medicine across Eastern Europe and North America for joint pain and as a general tonic. Their transition into evidence-based sports nutrition began in the early 2000s when researchers at the University of Vermont published early trials showing significant muscle recovery benefits in marathon runners, sparking a wave of clinical investigation.

Helps

What does Tart Cherry (CherryPURE) help with? Muscle soreness after exercise: This is tart cherry's strongest area of evidence. The anthocyanins in tart cherry help reduce the inflammation and oxidative damage that cause that deep, achy soreness you feel 24–48 hours after a tough workout. Multiple trials in runners and strength athletes show significantly less pain and faster strength recovery compared to placebo. Exercise recovery and performance: Beyond just soreness, tart cherry helps athletes recover faster between sessions — studies show quicker return of muscle strength and reduced markers of muscle breakdown. This makes it particularly useful for back-to-back training days or competition schedules. Sleep problems and insomnia: Tart cherry is one of the few foods that naturally contains melatonin, the hormone your body uses to signal sleep. Studies in adults with insomnia show meaningful improvements in total sleep time and sleep efficiency when drinking tart cherry juice concentrate daily — participants gained roughly 85 minutes of sleep on average in one well-cited trial. Joint pain and arthritis: The same anti-inflammatory compounds that ease post-workout soreness also appear to help with ongoing joint pain from osteoarthritis. Research in patients with knee osteoarthritis shows reduced pain scores and inflammation markers after several weeks of tart cherry juice supplementation. Gout flares: Tart cherry is one of the best-researched natural tools for gout. It appears to lower uric acid levels and reduce the frequency of painful gout attacks. A notable Boston University study found that cherry consumption was associated with a significantly lower risk of gout attacks over a 48-hour window. Post-workout inflammation: Even for people who aren't elite athletes, tart cherry helps bring down general markers of inflammation (like CRP and IL-6) that spike after hard physical activity. This matters for long-term joint and cardiovascular health, not just athletic performance. High uric acid levels: Studies show tart cherry consumption can measurably lower serum uric acid — the compound that crystallizes in joints during gout attacks. This makes it a useful ongoing support for anyone prone to high uric acid, not just during active flares. Oxidative stress and antioxidant support: Tart cherry has one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any whole food. Its anthocyanins actively neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress markers in the blood, which is linked to slower cellular aging and reduced risk of chronic disease over time. Blood pressure (mildly elevated): Some clinical trials have found modest but meaningful reductions in systolic blood pressure with regular tart cherry juice consumption, likely related to its effects on nitric oxide availability and vascular inflammation. The effect is modest — think lifestyle support, not replacement for medication.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
