This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

A high-potency probiotic supplement contains at least 100 billion live bacteria per dose, spanning multiple clinically studied strains from the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium families. This dose level is typically used for therapeutic purposes — restoring gut balance after antibiotics, managing IBS, or supporting immunity — rather than everyday maintenance. The 100B CFU threshold is chosen because delivery losses during digestion mean a higher starting count ensures meaningful colonization in the colon.
These live bacteria compete with harmful microbes for space and nutrients in the gut lining, crowding out pathogens and restoring microbial diversity. They also produce short-chain fatty acids and other compounds that strengthen the gut barrier, reduce inflammation, and communicate with the immune system. Through the gut-brain axis — a two-way communication highway between the gut and the brain — a balanced microbiome can positively influence mood, stress response, and even sleep quality.
Enteric-coated or delayed-release capsules are ideal because they protect the bacteria from stomach acid, ensuring they arrive alive in the intestine where they do their work. Powder sachets dissolve easily and work well for children or those who dislike capsules. Liquid probiotics are convenient but degrade faster and require refrigeration. Most high-quality 100B CFU products require refrigeration, though some shelf-stable versions use advanced encapsulation technology.
Fermented foods — yogurt, kefir, miso, kimchi, sauerkraut, lassi — have been fundamental to traditional diets on virtually every continent for millennia, prized long before bacteria were discovered. The scientific basis for probiotics began in the early 1900s when Russian zoologist Élie Metchnikoff proposed that lactic-acid bacteria in fermented foods promoted longevity. By the late 20th century, clinical research accelerated rapidly, and high-dose multi-strain supplements emerged as a medical-grade tool for gut rehabilitation. Today probiotics are among the most researched and widely used supplements globally.
