What does Pomegranate extract help with? High blood pressure: Pomegranate juice and extract consistently lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure in people with hypertension. The polyphenols appear to relax blood vessel walls and improve the function of the inner lining of arteries, making it easier for the heart to pump blood. Heart disease risk and cholesterol: Regular pomegranate use helps protect LDL cholesterol from oxidation — the process that turns it harmful and causes arterial plaque buildup. Studies also show improvements in arterial flexibility and reductions in carotid artery thickness over time, both meaningful markers of cardiovascular risk. Prostate health and PSA levels: Pomegranate extract has been shown to slow the rise of PSA (prostate-specific antigen) in men with prostate cancer after primary treatment, suggesting it may help slow disease progression. It's one of the better-studied natural options for prostate health, though it's not a replacement for medical care. Arthritis and joint pain: Pomegranate's anti-inflammatory compounds — particularly ellagic acid — help block enzymes that break down cartilage and drive joint inflammation. Human studies in osteoarthritis patients show meaningful reductions in pain and stiffness with regular use. Gut health and digestion: Pomegranate polyphenols act as prebiotics, feeding beneficial gut bacteria while inhibiting harmful strains. The peel in particular has a traditional history of use for digestive infections, and modern research supports its antimicrobial activity against several common gut pathogens. Exercise recovery and muscle soreness: The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of pomegranate extract help reduce oxidative damage from intense exercise, leading to less muscle soreness and faster strength recovery. Studies in strength-trained athletes have shown measurable improvements in recovery time. Memory and brain health: Preliminary human studies suggest pomegranate juice may improve memory and cognitive function, particularly in older adults or those at risk of memory decline. The mechanism likely involves improved blood flow to the brain and reduced oxidative stress on brain cells. Blood sugar and insulin sensitivity: Pomegranate extract shows modest benefits for blood sugar regulation, with some studies finding reductions in fasting glucose and improved insulin sensitivity. These effects appear more pronounced in people who already have elevated blood sugar or metabolic syndrome. Erectile dysfunction: Pomegranate juice has been studied specifically for mild erectile dysfunction, with results suggesting improvements in erectile quality, likely through the same blood vessel-relaxing mechanisms that benefit heart health. The effect is modest but reproducible in small trials. Inflammation (general): Pomegranate consistently lowers key inflammatory markers — including CRP and IL-6 — across a range of conditions and populations. This broad anti-inflammatory effect is probably the unifying reason it shows up as beneficial across so many different health areas.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
