This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Phloridzin is a natural flavonoid — specifically a dihydrochalcone — concentrated in the bark, roots, and leaves of apple trees. It is the compound that first helped scientists understand how the kidneys handle glucose, and it is now being studied as a natural tool for blood sugar and metabolic health. When you eat it, your body converts much of it into phloretin, which is the form that does most of the work inside your cells.
Phloridzin works by blocking two key glucose transporters — SGLT1 in the gut and SGLT2 in the kidneys — which are the same pathways targeted by a class of modern diabetes drugs called gliflozins. By slowing how much sugar your gut absorbs after a meal and nudging your kidneys to excrete a little more glucose, it helps keep post-meal blood sugar levels lower. Its metabolite phloretin also helps improve how efficiently cells respond to insulin.
Phloridzin is most reliably delivered as a standardized apple root bark extract in capsule or powder form. It is less stable in liquid and may degrade under heat, so cold-processed extracts are preferable. Some metabolic support formulas combine it with berberine or chromium for added effect.
Phloridzin was first isolated from apple root bark in 1835 by French chemists and quickly became one of the most important research tools in the history of diabetes science — scientists used it for over a century to study how kidneys handle sugar. Its role as a natural compound in the apple tree was recognized in traditional European herbal practice, and modern pharmaceutical chemists used its mechanism as a blueprint for developing SGLT2 inhibitor drugs.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
