This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Nu Zhen Zi (Ligustrum lucidum fruit) is one of the most widely used tonics in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where it is classified as a 'Yin-tonifying' herb that nourishes the liver and kidney systems. The small, black, olive-like berries are typically harvested in winter when fully ripe, then dried or wine-processed before use. In TCM formulas it frequently appears alongside He Shou Wu and Han Lian Cao, forming the classic 'Two Solstice Pill' (Er Zhi Wan) used for decades-long tonic support.
Nu Zhen Zi contains secoiridoid glycosides (especially oleuropein and nüzhenide) and pentacyclic triterpenes (oleanolic and ursolic acid), which are thought to act as antioxidants, may help dampen inflammatory signals, and are believed to support liver cell integrity. Its polysaccharides may support immune function by stimulating white blood cell activity and natural killer cell function, though this remains an area of preliminary investigation. Together, these compounds are thought to help the body manage oxidative stress — considered in traditional practice to be a key driver of fatigue, premature aging, and immune decline.
Traditional decoction (boiled in water) remains common in Chinese herbal practice and is often combined with other herbs. Capsule and tablet forms standardized to oleuropein or oleanolic acid are the most convenient modern options and are better suited to consistent dosing. Wine-processed (wine-fried) Nu Zhen Zi is considered in TCM to have a stronger warming and kidney-tonifying effect than raw fruit.
Listed in the Shennong Bencao Jing — China's foundational herbal classic compiled around the 1st–2nd century CE — Nu Zhen Zi has been used continuously in Chinese medicine to treat dizziness, premature greying, blurred vision, and weakness in older adults. Its name translates roughly as 'faithful woman seed,' reflecting its association with endurance and steadfast vitality. It remains a staple in contemporary TCM clinical practice and is included in several government-approved Chinese patent medicines.
