This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Myrrh essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the hardened resin of Commiphora myrrha, a thorny tree that grows in semi-arid regions of Somalia, Ethiopia, and the Arabian Peninsula. The resin has been traded for over 4,000 years and features prominently in ancient Egyptian embalming practices, Ayurvedic medicine, and traditional Arabic healing. Today, the essential oil is valued both for its rich, warm, earthy aroma and its well-studied bioactive compounds.
Myrrh's sesquiterpenes and furanosesquiterpenes are its primary therapeutic drivers — they interact with opioid receptors to help ease pain, inhibit inflammatory enzymes, and disrupt the cell membranes of bacteria and fungi. The oil also appears to support tissue repair by encouraging healthy cell turnover and reducing oxidative stress in damaged skin. When inhaled, volatile aromatic compounds interact with the limbic system, promoting a sense of calm and grounding.
As a topical essential oil, myrrh must always be diluted in a carrier oil (like coconut, jojoba, or almond oil) at a 1-3% concentration before skin application. For oral health, water-based myrrh rinses or tinctures are the safest formats — pure essential oil should never be swallowed. Standardized resin extracts in capsule form are available for internal systemic use. Diffusion or steam inhalation is used for mood and respiratory support.
Myrrh is one of the oldest documented medicinal substances in the world, appearing in ancient Egyptian medical papyri, the Hebrew Bible, and early Ayurvedic texts. It was a primary ingredient in Kyphi, the sacred Egyptian incense used in temples and as a healing compound. Ancient Greek and Roman physicians used it for wound care and oral infections. Its role as a precious trade commodity alongside gold and frankincense reflects how highly it was valued across cultures.
