This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Wild Betel (Piper sarmentosum) is a leafy herb in the pepper family that thrives across Southeast Asia, from Thailand and Malaysia to Vietnam and Indonesia. Unlike the closely related Betel leaf used for chewing (Piper betle), Wild Betel is prized as a vegetable, herbal wrap, and traditional remedy. Its heart-shaped leaves have a mild, earthy, slightly peppery flavour and have been central to folk medicine systems across the region for generations.
Wild Betel is rich in flavonoids — especially naringenin and apigenin — that help calm overactive inflammatory pathways and support the body's natural antioxidant defenses. These compounds appear to influence how cells respond to insulin, which may help keep blood sugar steadier after meals. The leaf's essential oils also carry documented antimicrobial activity, which explains its traditional use for respiratory and skin infections.
Fresh leaves are widely eaten in Southeast Asian cuisine — wrapped around grilled meats or used in salads. For therapeutic use, standardised leaf extracts in capsule form provide consistent dosing. Tea or decoction from dried leaves is the most accessible home preparation. Topical poultices made from crushed fresh leaves are applied traditionally for joint pain and skin conditions.
Wild Betel has been documented in Thai, Malay, and Cambodian traditional medicine for centuries. Thai traditional medicine uses it as a remedy for coughs, toothache, and diabetes-related symptoms. In Malaysia, it is known as 'kaduk' and used postpartum and for digestive complaints. Vietnamese cuisine uses the closely related Piper lolot for grilled meat wraps, blurring the line between food and medicine in a way typical of Southeast Asian healing traditions.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
