This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Ksheerabala Taila is one of the most celebrated medicated oils in classical Ayurveda, first described in Ashtanga Hridayam and Charaka Samhita. It is prepared through a slow, multi-stage process of cooking sesame oil (Tila taila) together with fresh milk (Kshira) and the decoction or paste of Bala root (Sida cordifolia), a plant revered for its rejuvenating (Rasayana) and muscle-nourishing properties. The resulting oil is a rich, bioavailable medium that carries the therapeutic properties of all three ingredients deep into tissues.
Sesame oil acts as the lipid carrier, allowing fat-soluble plant compounds to penetrate skin, joint tissue, and nerve sheaths effectively. The Bala root contributes alkaloids and saponins with documented anti-inflammatory and adaptogenic effects, while milk phospholipids are thought to enhance bioavailability and add a protective, soothing quality to nerve and muscle tissue. Together, these ingredients are believed to pacify Vata dosha — the Ayurvedic principle governing nerve function, movement, and dryness — making this oil particularly suited for conditions rooted in neural and musculoskeletal dryness or degeneration.
The most traditional and clinically studied form is the medicated oil used in Ayurvedic therapeutic massage (Abhyanga) and Pizhichil (oil bath). Nasya (nasal administration) is used for head, neck, and neurological conditions. Basti (medicated enema) use is reserved for specialized Panchakarma therapy under practitioner supervision. Oral administration of small doses (5–15 ml) is practiced in classical Ayurveda but requires professional guidance due to its alkaloid content.
Ksheerabala Taila appears prominently in two foundational Ayurvedic texts — Ashtanga Hridayam (circa 7th century CE) and Charaka Samhita (circa 400–200 BCE) — where it is specifically recommended for Vata disorders affecting nerves, muscles, and joints. It has been in continuous clinical use across South India, Kerala in particular, for over a thousand years as part of Panchakarma detoxification and rejuvenation therapy, and remains one of the most prescribed classical oils in Keraliya (Kerala-style) Ayurveda today.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
