This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Jujube is the fruit of Ziziphus jujuba, a thorny tree native to China and Central Asia that has spread across the Middle East, South Asia, and the Mediterranean over millennia. The fruit is eaten fresh, dried as a wrinkled red date, or processed into extracts — and its seed (Suan Zao Ren) is one of the most widely used sedative herbs in all of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Known as 'Da Zao' in Chinese herbalism and 'Annab' across Persian and Arabic traditions, it holds a respected place in multiple healing systems simultaneously, which is rare among botanical medicines.
Jujube's calming effects come primarily from jujubosides and spinosin, compounds found in the seed that appear to quiet overactive brain signaling — helping the mind settle toward sleep without the grogginess of synthetic sedatives. Its polysaccharides and vitamin C content support the immune system by promoting healthy white blood cell activity and acting as antioxidants that protect cells from daily wear. The fruit also has a gentle effect on digestion, helping to soothe an irritated gut lining and support regular bowel function.
The dried fruit (red dates) is the most traditional and widely available form — eaten as food or simmered into teas and soups. For therapeutic sleep and anxiety support, standardized seed extract (Suan Zao Ren) in capsule or powder form is the most studied format. Liquid extracts offer flexible dosing. In Chinese medicine, jujube is almost always used in combination herbal formulas rather than as a single herb.
Jujube has been cultivated in China for over 4,000 years and appears in the Shennong Bencao Jing — one of the oldest Chinese herbal texts. In Persian and Unani medicine it was called Annab and prized for calming heat in the body and promoting restful sleep. It is mentioned in Islamic tradition as a fruit of paradise (Sidr), and remnants of jujube cultivation have been found in ancient Egyptian and Roman archaeological sites. Few fruits carry such a long, cross-cultural therapeutic legacy.
