This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Hericium erinacines extract comes from Lion's Mane, a striking white, cascading mushroom used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries to support the gut, brain, and overall vitality. The extract concentrates two key compound families — erinacines from the inner mycelium and hericenones from the outer fruiting body — that are not found in any other known mushroom. Modern research has made Lion's Mane one of the most studied functional mushrooms in neuroscience, particularly for its ability to stimulate the production of nerve growth factor (NGF) in the brain.
Erinacines and hericenones are small enough to cross the blood-brain barrier, where they encourage the brain to produce more nerve growth factor — a protein your neurons need to stay healthy, form new connections, and repair after injury. Think of NGF as fertilizer for your brain cells. This is why Lion's Mane is being studied so seriously for conditions like cognitive decline, peripheral nerve damage, and even mood disorders, since healthy nerve signaling is deeply tied to how we feel and think.
Dual-extract products (using both hot water and alcohol extraction) are generally superior, as they capture both the water-soluble beta-glucans and the alcohol-soluble erinacines/hericenones. Mycelium-only products are sometimes criticized for containing grain filler from the growing substrate — look for products specifying fruiting body content or verified erinacine/hericenone levels. Standardized extracts (e.g., 8:1 or standardized to 1% erinacines) offer the most predictable dosing.
Lion's Mane has been prized in China and Japan for over a thousand years, appearing in ancient texts as a tonic for the stomach, spleen, and mind. Buddhist monks reportedly used it to sharpen focus during meditation. In Japan it is called Yamabushitake, named after mountain-dwelling monks (yamabushi) who used it as part of their practice. It was also consumed as a culinary delicacy — valued as much for its seafood-like flavor as for its health properties.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
