This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) is a large deciduous climbing shrub found throughout tropical India, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar. Known in Sanskrit as 'Amrita' — meaning nectar of immortality — it has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for over 3,000 years as one of the three foundational rasayana (rejuvenating) herbs. Every part of the plant — stem, leaves, roots, and aerial roots — is used medicinally, though the stem is most prized and most studied.
Guduchi works through several pathways at once: its polysaccharides and alkaloids activate immune cells like macrophages and natural killer cells, helping the body recognize and respond to threats more effectively. At the same time, it helps dial down runaway inflammation without fully suppressing immunity — a balance that sets it apart from many herbs. It also appears to support insulin sensitivity and help the liver process toxins more efficiently.
Traditional decoction (boiling the dried stem in water) remains the most time-honored preparation and delivers the full spectrum of water-soluble compounds. Standardized capsule extracts (typically standardized to bitter principle content) offer convenience and consistent dosing. Juice from fresh stems is popular in India, especially during seasonal illness. Powder (churna) mixed with warm water or honey is another classical approach. For immune support, aqueous or whole-herb extracts are generally preferred over isolated alkaloid extracts.
Guduchi holds a place in Ayurvedic texts including the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita, where it is classified as a tridoshic herb — meaning it balances all three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha). Its name 'Amrita' reflects the belief that it protected the gods from aging and disease. It has also been used in traditional Sri Lankan and tribal Indian medicine systems for fevers, jaundice, urinary disorders, and snakebite antidote support. Modern Indian pharmacopeia formally recognizes it, and it gained significant popular attention during the COVID-19 pandemic in India as a widely recommended immune tonic.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
