This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Eucalyptus essential oil is extracted by steam distillation from the leaves of Eucalyptus globulus and related species native to Australia. It has one of the highest concentrations of a natural compound called 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol) of any plant oil, which is the main reason it works so well for breathing and congestion. The oil has been used medicinally for over 200 years, first by Aboriginal Australians and then widely adopted by European settlers and eventually global medicine.
The primary active compound, eucalyptol (1,8-cineole), works as a natural decongestant by thinning mucus and relaxing the muscles of the airways, making it easier to breathe and clear congestion. It also has well-documented antimicrobial properties, meaning it can help fight bacteria and certain viruses on surfaces and in the airway environment. When applied to the skin, it creates a mild warming and cooling sensation that helps ease muscle tension and acts as a natural analgesic.
Inhalation (via diffuser or steam bowl) is the most effective route for respiratory benefits. Topical application requires dilution in a carrier oil (typically 2–5% dilution — about 2–3 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil) to avoid skin irritation. Ready-made products like chest rubs and throat lozenges contain standardized amounts. Mouthwash formulations (like Listerine) use eucalyptol as an active antibacterial ingredient. Never swallow pure eucalyptus essential oil — even small amounts can be toxic.
Aboriginal Australians used eucalyptus leaves to treat wounds, fevers, and respiratory infections for thousands of years. After European colonization in the late 1700s, the oil was commercially distilled and exported globally, becoming a staple of Victorian-era medicine cabinets. By the early 1900s, it was used as a surgical antiseptic and fever treatment. Today it remains one of the world's most widely used essential oils and its active compound eucalyptol is an approved pharmaceutical ingredient in many countries.
