This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Dodder seed comes from Cuscuta species — thread-like parasitic vines that grow on host plants and produce tiny, hard seeds packed with bioactive compounds. In Persian traditional medicine, it is called Aftimoon and has been used for over a thousand years as a tonic for the brain, liver, and mood. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is known as Tu Si Zi and ranked among the premier herbs for nourishing kidney yang energy and supporting reproductive vitality.
Dodder seed appears to work by supporting hormonal balance, protecting sperm cells from oxidative damage, and gently stimulating reproductive organ function. Its flavonoids — especially quercetin and kaempferol — act as antioxidants that reduce cellular stress in sensitive tissues like the testes, liver, and kidneys. It also has mild phytoestrogenic and androgen-modulating properties that may help regulate sex hormone levels in both men and women.
Capsules and standardized extracts are the most convenient and commonly used forms in modern practice. Traditional decoctions (boiled in water) are still widely used in Chinese and Persian herbal medicine. It is frequently combined with other herbs — in TCM it often appears in formulas alongside Goji berry and Morinda root for enhanced reproductive support.
Dodder seed has been used in Persian medicine since at least the 10th century, documented by the physician Ibn Sina (Avicenna) in his Canon of Medicine for melancholy, liver complaints, and nervous debility. In Chinese medicine, Tu Si Zi appears in texts dating back over 2,000 years, consistently listed as a longevity tonic for kidney deficiency and impotence. Its use spans Middle Eastern, South Asian, and East Asian healing traditions — a rare herb with true cross-cultural classical standing.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
