This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Cold plunge therapy means submerging your body — usually up to the neck — in water between roughly 50–59°F (10–15°C) for anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes. It is one of the oldest wellness practices on earth, used by Greek physicians, Roman bathers, Scandinavian sauna-goers, and Japanese Shinto practitioners long before modern sports science caught up. Today it sits at the intersection of elite athletic recovery and everyday mental wellness.
The cold immediately triggers a cascade of survival responses: blood vessels constrict to protect your core, your adrenal glands flood the body with norepinephrine (a powerful natural stimulant and mood booster), and your nervous system shifts into a heightened, alert state. Over time, repeated cold exposure trains your body to handle stress more efficiently, reduces baseline inflammation, and may activate brown fat — the metabolically active fat tissue that burns calories to generate heat.
Dedicated cold plunge tubs offer the most control over temperature and are ideal for consistent practice. Ice baths (a regular tub filled with cold water and ice) are a highly effective, lower-cost alternative. Cold showers provide a milder stimulus and are a good starting point for beginners. Open-water cold swimming (lakes, rivers, oceans) adds sensory and community dimensions but removes temperature control. Contrast therapy — alternating between cold and hot (sauna or hot tub) — is popular in Scandinavian traditions and may offer unique circulatory benefits beyond cold alone.
Hippocrates wrote about cold water's healing properties around 400 BCE. Roman bathhouses featured cold pools (frigidarium) as a standard part of the bathing sequence. In Japan, Misogi — ritual purification under cold waterfalls — has been practiced in Shinto tradition for over a millennium. Scandinavian cultures have paired saunas with cold plunges for centuries. Modern sports science began studying cold water immersion systematically in the 1990s, and the practice exploded into mainstream wellness culture in the 2010s–2020s, popularized by figures like Wim Hof and adopted widely by professional athletes.
