Track cheonsangap with reminders and record whether it helped, in the app.
Cheonsangap is the dried scale of the pangolin. A pangolin is a small, scale-covered animal that eats ants. Its Latin name is Manis pentadactyla, and the scales are also sold as pangolin scales.
In old Korean and Chinese medicine, healers used the scales to "unblock" stuck blood. They gave them to help breast milk flow, to bring on late periods, and to drain pus from boils.
Here is the short answer on evidence. No human trial has shown that pangolin scale helps any health problem. Long use in a tradition is not proof that a remedy works.
There is a second point, and it is just as plain. All pangolins are protected animals. Buying, selling or holding the scales is against the law in Korea and in nearly every other country.
The honest answer is that no one has shown it does anything in the body. Pangolin scale is made of keratin. That is the same tough protein as your fingernails and hair.
Old texts explain it in their own way. They say the scale "pierces" and moves blocked blood and opens the body's channels. That is a traditional idea, not a tested one.
Lab work on ground scale finds little of note. Cow hoof and human nail have much the same make-up. So there is no clear way it could act like a drug.
You will not find a legal, tested form of this. What appears on the black market takes a few shapes.
Whole dried scales are the raw form. Scales fried in hot sand until they puff are the prepared form used in old recipes. Ground powder is sold loose or packed into capsules.
Some imported pill and tea mixes list it as one part of a multi-herb blend. These blends are also illegal, and the label may not match what is inside.
Chinese medical texts named pangolin scale by about 500 CE. Korean medicine took it up from those texts.
It appears in the Donguibogam, the great Korean medical book of 1613, and stayed in use for centuries for milk flow, sores and stuck blood.
Its standing has since changed. China dropped pangolin scale from its official medicine list in 2020, and world trade rules ban the trade outright.
See a doctor the same day if a boil or sore is spreading, hot, very painful, or comes with fever or chills. Get help right away if you have trouble breathing, a swollen face, lips or tongue, or a spreading rash, as that can be a serious allergy.
Call your doctor if you took this while pregnant, or if you feel sick, dizzy, or get belly pain, vomiting or dark stools afterwards. Tell your midwife or doctor if your baby is not feeding well or not gaining weight, rather than treating low milk supply on your own.
Evidence grades and traditional-use labels are explained in our methodology. Nothing here is medical advice.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
