This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Fennel seed comes from Foeniculum vulgare, a tall, feathery herb in the carrot family that has been cultivated around the Mediterranean for at least 3,000 years. Every part of the plant is edible, but the small oval seeds are the most medicinally concentrated form. Today fennel seed is used across European, Middle Eastern, South Asian, and East Asian traditions — making it one of the most cross-cultural herbal remedies on the planet.
Fennel's main active compound, anethole, relaxes smooth muscle in the digestive tract, which is why it so effectively relieves spasms, cramping, and trapped gas. Anethole also has mild estrogen-like activity, which is thought to explain fennel's traditional use for menstrual cramps and breastfeeding support. Additional antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds like quercetin and rosmarinic acid round out its effects.
Whole seeds can be chewed directly or brewed as a tea — the most traditional and widely studied form for digestive complaints. Capsules and standardized extracts offer more precise dosing. Fennel essential oil is highly concentrated and should only be used in very small amounts or diluted. For infants, only very dilute tea or specially formulated infant drops should ever be considered.
Fennel has been documented in ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman, and Ayurvedic medicine. Greek soldiers reportedly chewed fennel to control hunger during battles. In medieval Europe it was hung over doorways to ward off evil — but far more practically, it was placed on the dinner table after heavy meals as a digestive aid, a role it still plays in Indian restaurants today where a small bowl of seeds greets diners at the end of a meal.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
