Track Alstonia scholaris with reminders and record whether it helped, in the app.
Alstonia scholaris is a homeopathic remedy made from the bark of the dita tree. It is a single remedy, not a mix. Its Latin name is Alstonia scholaris, and it is also known as dita bark.
Homeopaths have used it for fevers that keep coming back, for loose stools, and for weakness that lingers after an illness. It is also given for poor appetite and low energy.
The remedy is made by soaking the bark in alcohol and then diluting that liquid again and again. At a 30C strength, none of the plant is left. Only water, alcohol or a sugar pellet remains.
Human trials have not shown that it works better than a placebo (a dummy pill). Its long use in homeopathy is real history, but history is not proof that it acts like a drug. We report both things, and we do not repeat this point in every section below.
The short answer is that no one has shown a way it could work at normal homeopathic strengths.
Homeopathy rests on two ideas. The first is called "like cures like". It means a substance that causes certain symptoms in a well person is used to treat those same symptoms.
The second idea is that shaking and diluting a substance makes it act more strongly. No known process in chemistry or biology supports this. Past about 12C, not one molecule of the starting bark is left.
The raw bark itself is a different matter. It holds bitter plant chemicals that do act on the body in lab tests. Those chemicals are only in the mother tincture, the strong alcohol extract.
It comes in a few forms, and they are not the same thing.
The mother tincture is marked with a Q or the word "tincture". It is the alcohol extract of the bark. It is the only form that still holds real plant chemicals.
Diluted forms are sold as liquid drops or as small sugar pellets. Common strengths are 6C, 30C and 200C. The higher the number, the more the liquid has been diluted.
The dita tree grows across India and Southeast Asia. Healers there have used its bitter bark for fevers and gut trouble for hundreds of years.
It is known as saptaparna in Ayurveda. Homeopaths took it up in the 1800s after testing it on healthy volunteers and writing down what they felt.
See a doctor straight away if a fever lasts more than three days, goes above 39C, or comes back in waves. Also get help fast if you see blood in your stool, cannot keep fluids down, pass very little urine, or feel confused or very drowsy.
Book an appointment if diarrhoea lasts more than two days, if weight is falling, or if tiredness and pale skin have gone on for weeks. These need tests, not a remedy.
Stop the mother tincture and call your doctor if you feel sick, dizzy or shaky, if your skin or eyes turn yellow, or if a rash appears.
Evidence grades and traditional-use labels are explained in our methodology. Nothing here is medical advice.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
