Trying for a baby for two years
Two years is a long time to hope month after month. You count days, take tests, and feel the let-down. Many men also feel guilt or shame, though none of this is your fault.
Doctors use the word infertility after a year of trying with no luck. In about half of couples, something on the male side plays a part. That can mean sperm count, sperm shape, or how well sperm move.
Common reasons include heat, smoking, heavy drinking, extra weight, and some drugs. Hormone levels, past mumps, injury, or surgery can matter too. In many couples, tests find no clear cause at all.
When to see someone
See a doctor soon if you find a lump, pain, or swelling in a testicle. Book a visit if your sex drive has dropped, or erections are hard to get or keep. Ask for a semen test, and make sure your partner is checked too.
Below are remedies people have long used while trying for a baby. Each one has a grade that shows how strong the research behind it is. A low grade means the proof is thin, so talk with your doctor first.
