Stomach cramps right after I eat
You finish a meal, and the pain starts almost at once. Your belly grips, twists, or feels like a tight knot. It may ease when you pass gas or use the toilet, or it may hang on for an hour.
Food sets the gut in motion. The muscles in your gut wall squeeze to push the meal along. That squeezing can be felt as cramps, more so when your gut is touchy that day.
Big meals, fast eating, and fizzy drinks are common triggers. Fatty food, dairy, beans, and strong coffee can do it too. Stress, a recent stomach bug, or a longer-term gut problem may also be behind it.
When to see someone
Get care fast if the pain is severe or lasts hours. See a doctor for blood in your stool, black stools, or vomit that looks like coffee grounds. Fever, weight loss you did not plan, trouble swallowing, or pain in your upper right belly also need a check.
Below are folk and home remedies people have long used for gut trouble. Each has a grade for how much research backs it, not a promise of results. Check with your doctor before you try any, above all if you take other medicine.
