Finger swollen like a sausage
Your whole finger is puffed up, not just one knuckle. It looks fat from base to tip, like a small sausage. Doctors call this dactylitis (swelling of a whole finger or toe).
The finger may feel warm, stiff, and tender. Rings get tight and hard to pull off. Bending it can be slow or sore, and the skin may look shiny.
A few things cause this kind of swelling. One is psoriatic arthritis, a joint disease tied to psoriasis (thick, scaly skin patches). A hurt finger, gout, or an infection can also make one finger blow up.
When to see someone
See a doctor today if the finger is red, hot, very sore, or you run a fever. That can mean an infection, and it needs fast care. Book a visit if the swelling lasts days, keeps coming back, or joins scaly skin, pitted nails, or stiff mornings.
Below are home and folk remedies that people use for psoriatic arthritis. Each one has a grade that shows how strong the research behind it is. A grade is not a promise of results, so talk with your doctor before you try any of them.
