This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Talispatra refers to the leaves of Abies spectabilis (Himalayan Silver Fir), a tall conifer native to the Himalayan forests of India, Nepal, and Bhutan. It is one of the principal herbs in Ayurvedic respiratory medicine, featured prominently in classical texts like the Charaka Samhita and Ashtanga Hridayam. It is best known as the lead ingredient in Talisadi Churna, a classic Ayurvedic compound formula still widely used today.
Talispatra's volatile oils — especially alpha-pinene, camphene, and borneol — help relax the bronchial airways, loosen and thin mucus, and make it easier to cough up. These compounds also have natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties that help calm irritated respiratory tissue. Additionally, its bitter compounds stimulate digestive enzyme activity and improve appetite, which is why it's traditionally paired with digestive complaints.
Talispatra is most commonly used as part of Talisadi Churna — a classic Ayurvedic blend also containing ginger, black pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon — taken with honey or ghee for respiratory conditions. It can also be prepared as a simple decoction (simmered in water), taken as a standalone churna (powder), or used as a component in herbal tablets available from Ayurvedic manufacturers. The essential oil is used topically and in steam inhalation.
Talispatra has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for over a thousand years and is referenced in Charaka Samhita as a key herb for 'kasa' (cough) and 'shwasa' (breathlessness). It is classified in Ayurveda under the 'Eladi' group of herbs and is considered one of the best herbs for clearing kapha (mucus) from the lungs. Traditional Tibetan medicine (Sowa Rigpa) also uses it for respiratory complaints, showing its cross-cultural importance across the Himalayan region.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
