This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Steam inhalation is one of the oldest and most widely used home remedies on earth — used in ancient Greece, Rome, Ayurvedic medicine, and across Indigenous traditions long before modern pharmaceuticals existed. It involves breathing in warm, humid air to loosen mucus, open nasal passages, and calm irritated respiratory tissues. While simple in practice, it remains a front-line self-care tool recommended by doctors and traditional healers alike.
Warm, moist air raises the humidity inside your nasal passages and airways, which softens and loosens thick mucus so it can drain more easily. The heat also gently increases blood flow to the lining of the nose and throat, helping reduce that swollen, stuffed-up feeling. When aromatic oils like eucalyptus or menthol are added, they provide an extra cooling and decongestant sensation by activating cold receptors in the airway — making breathing feel noticeably clearer.
The simplest method is a bowl of hot (not boiling) water with a towel draped over the head, inhaled for 5–10 minutes. Electric steam inhalers provide a consistent, safer temperature. Warm showers and steam rooms offer a more passive version. Personal pocket inhalers (dry or moist) are portable alternatives. For children, a steam-filled bathroom is the safest approach since direct steam devices carry burn risks.
Steam bathing and inhalation appear in nearly every ancient healing tradition. The Greeks used steam in their balaneion bath houses, Ayurvedic practitioners prescribed swedana (steam therapy) for respiratory and joint ailments, Nordic cultures used saunas, and Indigenous peoples across the Americas used sweat lodges partly for respiratory healing. The practice has never fallen out of use and remains a staple of home cold treatment worldwide.
