This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Sheng Hua Tang is one of the most famous and widely used formulas in Traditional Chinese Medicine, developed during the Ming or Qing dynasty and documented in detail by Fu Qing-Zhu, a 17th-century physician. The name itself captures its purpose — 'Sheng' means to generate or bring forth new, while 'Hua' means to transform or dissolve, reflecting its dual action of clearing out the old and nourishing new recovery. It is made from five herbs that work together to move blood, warm the uterus, and gently restore the mother's energy after birth.
The formula works primarily by promoting uterine contractions and improving blood circulation in the pelvic area, which helps expel retained placental tissue and postpartum blood clots. Dang Gui and Chuan Xiong move and nourish the blood; Tao Ren disperses blood stasis; Pao Jiang warms the uterus and stops excessive cold-induced cramping; and Zhi Gan Cao harmonizes all the herbs while gently protecting the stomach. Together, they address what TCM calls 'blood stagnation after delivery' — the root cause of many postpartum discomforts.
The traditional preparation is a water decoction cooked at home — this remains the gold standard in TCM practice and is most commonly used in Taiwan and parts of China immediately postpartum. Concentrated granules and capsules offer convenience and are widely available in health stores and online. In Taiwan, a commercially prepared version is sometimes added to rice wine during cooking as a postpartum meal. Dosing and duration vary by form.
Sheng Hua Tang was formalized in Fu Qing-Zhu's 'Fu Qing-Zhu's Gynecology' (傅青主女科), one of the most influential TCM gynecology texts, written in the 17th century. It has since become arguably the most widely prescribed postpartum formula in Chinese-speaking societies. In Taiwan especially, its use is nearly universal — a cultural standard of postpartum care passed from generation to generation, often prepared by family members for new mothers during the first week after birth. It continues to be studied in modern clinical settings in China and Taiwan.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
