This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Sea buckthorn berries come from a spiny shrub that thrives in harsh, high-altitude environments across the Himalayas, Siberia, and parts of Europe. The berry is unusual because both its pulp and its seeds yield nutritionally distinct oils — the pulp oil is rich in the rare omega-7 fatty acid palmitoleic acid, while the seed oil is especially high in omega-3 and omega-6 fats. Together they deliver a fat profile found almost nowhere else in the plant kingdom.
Sea buckthorn works on several levels at once. Its omega-7 content directly nourishes mucous membranes — the moist linings of the gut, lungs, mouth, and vaginal tissue — helping them stay hydrated and resilient. Its dense mix of antioxidants (vitamin C, vitamin E, carotenoids, flavonoids) fights oxidative damage in cells and blood vessels, while its plant sterols and fatty acid balance support healthy cholesterol levels and reduce low-grade inflammation.
Pulp oil (from the berry flesh) is the richest source of omega-7 and carotenoids — most effective for skin, mucous membranes, and cardiovascular support. Seed oil is higher in omega-3/6 and is excellent for inflammation and skin barrier repair. Juice or concentrate delivers vitamin C and polyphenols but contains minimal oil-soluble nutrients. Capsules and softgels typically combine both oils for convenience. Topical formulations are effective for wound healing, eczema, and dry skin directly.
Sea buckthorn has been used in Tibetan medicine for over 1,000 years, documented in the Tibetan medical text Sibu Yidian as a treatment for respiratory ailments, digestion, and skin wounds. In ancient Greece, it was reportedly fed to horses to improve their coat and energy — the genus name Hippophae means 'shining horse.' Russian cosmonauts and Soviet athletes used sea buckthorn oil to protect skin from radiation and speed recovery, and it remains a staple botanical in traditional Chinese, Mongolian, and Scandinavian herbal systems.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
