This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Roghan Kadu is the Urdu/Persian name for pumpkin seed oil, a nutrient-dense oil cold-pressed from the seeds of Cucurbita pepo, a gourd cultivated across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe for thousands of years. In Ayurvedic and Unani medicine, it has long been used as a tonic for the urinary tract, kidneys, and skin. It gained particular prominence in traditional Styrian (Austrian) cooking and folk medicine, where it became known as 'green gold' for its striking dark color and therapeutic reputation.
Pumpkin seed oil is thought to work through several complementary pathways. Its unique delta-7-sterols are thought to gently inhibit the conversion of testosterone to DHT (the hormone associated with prostate enlargement and male-pattern hair loss), without fully blocking the enzyme the way pharmaceutical drugs do. The oil's zinc content is believed to support testosterone regulation and immune function, while its anti-inflammatory fatty acids and carotenoids may help reduce tissue irritation in the bladder and prostate. Together, these proposed actions help explain its traditional use for both urinary symptoms and hormonal hair thinning, though robust clinical evidence confirming these effects in humans remains limited.
Therapeutic-grade Roghan Kadu is typically available as cold-pressed oil (dark green, unrefined, with a rich nutty flavor) or in softgel capsules for standardized dosing. Capsules are preferred for urinary and prostate protocols where consistent daily dosing matters. Culinary-grade oils from grocery stores may have reduced potency. For hair use, the oil is sometimes applied topically or taken orally alongside other botanicals like saw palmetto.
Pumpkin seeds have been used medicinally in the Americas, Middle East, and Central Europe for over 500 years. Native American healers used them for kidney and urinary complaints. Persian Unani physicians included 'Roghan Kadu' in formulations for the bladder and prostate. In 16th-century Styria (now Austria), pumpkin seed oil became so valued that laws reportedly prohibited its export. Broader interest in the oil for BPH and overactive bladder grew in the 1990s.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
