This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Qing Zao Jiu Fei Tang is a nine-herb classical Chinese medicine formula first recorded in the Qing dynasty text 'Yi Men Fa Lu' (1658) by physician Yu Chang. The formula's name translates to 'Clear Dryness and Rescue the Lungs,' capturing its core purpose: relieving the lung from damage caused by dry-heat — a pattern seen in dry autumn air, smoky environments, post-fever dryness, or chronic inflammatory lung conditions. It is one of the most important formulas in the Chinese medicine respiratory canon.
The formula works on several levels at once: cooling and moistening herbs like Mulberry leaf, Ophiopogon, and Gypsum reduce heat and restore fluid to the airways; E Jiao and Sesame seed nourish and rebuild lung tissue; Apricot kernel and Loquat leaf gently open the airways and stop cough; and Licorice root harmonizes the whole formula while soothing inflamed mucous membranes. Together, these herbs address inflammation, dryness, and compromised mucosal integrity — the three core problems in dry-heat lung patterns.
Traditional decoction is the gold standard — herbs are simmered together and drunk as a tea, typically twice daily. Granule forms (concentrated powders dissolved in hot water) are more convenient and widely used in clinical practice outside China. Capsule and tablet forms are available but may deliver lower potency than decoctions or granules. Pre-packaged granule blends from established manufacturers (Sun Ten, KPC, Evergreen) are well-standardized and preferred for modern use.
Formulated by Qing dynasty physician Yu Chang in 1658 and recorded in 'Yi Men Fa Lu' (Precepts for Medical Practice), this formula was designed specifically for the dry-heat presentations that are common in autumn or after febrile illness — a gap Yu Chang felt was not adequately addressed by earlier formulas. It has remained a cornerstone of Chinese respiratory medicine for over 350 years and is widely taught in TCM schools worldwide.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
