This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Palasha (Butea monosperma) is a medium-sized deciduous tree that blazes orange-red in flower across the Indian subcontinent each spring — earning it the name 'Flame of the Forest.' Every part of the tree — seeds, bark, flowers, roots, and leaves — carries medicinal value in classical Ayurveda, where it has been documented in texts like the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita for over 2,000 years. It holds a particularly respected place as a treatment for intestinal parasites, skin diseases, and gynecological concerns.
The seeds contain palasonin, a compound shown to paralyze roundworms and tapeworms by disrupting their neuromuscular function, making it one of Ayurveda's best-validated antiparasitic tools. The flavonoids butrin and isobutrin act as antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, helping reduce oxidative stress in the liver and skin. Tannins in the bark and gum (Bengal kino) have astringent and wound-healing properties, while beta-sitosterol may help support healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Seeds are most commonly used as a powder or paste for antiparasitic applications, typically combined with castor oil as a purgative to expel dead worms. Bark decoctions are taken internally for liver support and diarrhea. Flower infusions are used traditionally for menstrual irregularity and urinary complaints. Leaf paste is applied topically to skin conditions, wounds, and joint swellings. The gum (kino) is used as an astringent mouthwash or internally for bowel complaints.
Palasha holds a sacred and medicinal dual identity in Indian tradition — it is considered a holy tree associated with Brahma, used in Vedic rituals and sacred fire ceremonies. In classical Ayurvedic texts it is classified under the 'Tridoshahara' category (balancing all three doshas) and specifically listed in the treatment of intestinal parasites (krimi roga), skin diseases (kushtha), and menstrual disorders. It has been used in tribal medicine across India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Myanmar for generations.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
