This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Jamu is Indonesia's oldest living herbal medicine tradition, practiced for at least 1,300 years across Java, Bali, and the broader archipelago. The kunyit asam (turmeric-tamarind) formula is one of the most beloved and widely consumed varieties, traditionally prepared by boiling fresh turmeric root, ginger, and tamarind pulp together with palm sugar and sometimes a pinch of salt. It is sold by jamu vendors (often women called 'mbok jamu') who walk neighborhoods each morning carrying clay bottles of the tonic.
Each ingredient brings a distinct mechanism: turmeric's curcumin blocks key inflammatory signaling molecules (including COX-2 and NF-kB pathways), ginger's gingerols and shogaols calm nausea, improve gut motility, and add additional anti-inflammatory action, while tamarind provides organic acids and antioxidants that aid digestion, support liver detox pathways, and enhance the absorption of the other compounds. Together they create a synergistic blend where each ingredient amplifies the others — tamarind's acidity, for example, may help stabilize curcumin and improve its uptake in the gut.
The most potent and traditional form is freshly brewed tonic made from raw roots and tamarind pulp — the heat extraction and acidity maximize active compound release. Commercial bottled versions are convenient but vary widely in curcumin and gingerol content. Powder sachets and capsule blends can be effective if they use standardized extracts (look for 95% curcuminoids in turmeric extract and at least 5% gingerols in ginger extract).
Jamu as a healing system predates written Javanese history and is referenced in stone inscriptions from the 8th–9th century Mataram Kingdom. Kunyit asam specifically became a staple for women's health — menstrual regularity, post-partum recovery, and skin clarity — and remains so today. In 2023, UNESCO recognized Jamu as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, cementing its status as a living medical tradition.
