This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Endive and its close relative wild chicory (Cichorium intybus) have been used as food and medicine across the Mediterranean, Middle East, and South Asia for well over two thousand years. In Unani and Ayurvedic traditions, the herb is called Kasni and is regarded as one of the most important liver and kidney tonics in the entire formulary. The plant's bitter leaves and roots contain a rich mix of prebiotic fibers, bitter compounds, and polyphenols that work together to support digestive, metabolic, and liver function.
The bitter compounds in endive — particularly lactucin and lactucopicrin — stimulate bile production and flow, which helps the liver process fats and clear waste more efficiently. Its prebiotic fiber (inulin) feeds beneficial gut bacteria, improving gut health and indirectly supporting immune function and metabolic balance. Polyphenols like chicoric acid and caffeic acid derivatives act as antioxidants and help reduce inflammation in the liver and digestive tract.
The root is most commonly used in extract, powder, or tea form for therapeutic purposes, especially for liver and blood sugar support. Fresh or lightly cooked leaves are used as a functional food and provide the full spectrum of nutrients. Root inulin is commercially extracted as a prebiotic supplement. In traditional Unani formulations, the whole plant — root, leaf, and seed — is used together as a compound preparation.
Kasni has been listed in the Canon of Medicine by Ibn Sina (Avicenna) as a primary remedy for liver and spleen disorders, jaundice, and sluggish digestion. Ancient Egyptian and Greek physicians also used wild chicory as a liver cleanser and digestive bitter. The plant's roots were roasted as a coffee substitute in Europe during the 18th and 19th centuries, which is still common today. This long, multi-civilizational history of medicinal and culinary use is one of the strongest markers of its credibility as a functional herb.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
