This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Dulse (Palmaria palmata) is a flat, fan-shaped red seaweed that grows wild on the rocky shores of the North Atlantic and North Pacific. It has been eaten as everyday food in Ireland, Iceland, and Atlantic Canada for over a thousand years — dried and chewed as a salty snack, crumbled into soups, or cooked into traditional dishes. Today it is gaining renewed attention as a nutrient-dense whole food and a standout source of plant-based iodine.
Dulse delivers iodine in a food-matrix form that is readily absorbed to support thyroid hormone production (T3 and T4), which regulates metabolism, energy, and body temperature. Its rich potassium content supports fluid balance and cardiovascular function, while its soluble fiber feeds beneficial gut bacteria and helps slow glucose absorption. Polyphenols and phycoerythrin pigments act as antioxidants, helping to reduce oxidative stress in tissues.
Dried whole-leaf dulse is the most traditional and nutrient-intact form — simply rinse and eat or crumble over food. Flakes and powder are easy to add to smoothies, soups, or seasoning blends. Capsules and extracts offer measured-dose iodine delivery. Dulse chips are a popular snack form but may contain added sodium. For thyroid support specifically, flakes or powder allow easier dose monitoring.
Dulse has been gathered and eaten along Celtic and Nordic coastlines since at least the 12th century, referenced in ancient Irish law texts as a valued coastal resource. Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest also harvested red seaweed as a staple food and trade item. In Iceland and the Faroe Islands, dried dulse remains a common snack to this day.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
