This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Cordyceps militaris is a bright orange medicinal mushroom that grows on insect larvae in the wild but is now widely cultivated on grain-based substrates, making it the most accessible and research-studied form of Cordyceps. Unlike the wild Ophiocordyceps sinensis (which is extremely rare and expensive), cultivated C. militaris produces comparable or higher levels of key active compounds, especially cordycepin. It has been a staple of Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries, prized for tonifying the lungs and kidneys and replenishing vital energy.
Cordyceps militaris works primarily through its signature compound cordycepin, which structurally resembles adenosine and influences how cells produce and use energy. It appears to support the body's oxygen-utilization efficiency, which explains the endurance-boosting effects athletes notice. It also contains beta-glucans that stimulate and modulate immune activity, and its anti-inflammatory properties likely contribute to its wide range of traditional uses.
Standardized extracts (often 10:1 or standardized to cordycepin content) deliver the most reliable dose of active compounds. Hot water extraction is needed to break down the fungal cell walls and release beta-glucans and polysaccharides — raw powder alone is less bioavailable. Capsules and powders from fruiting bodies are widely available; mycelium-on-grain products vary widely in potency and are generally considered lower quality. Tinctures and dual-extract (hot water + alcohol) forms capture the broadest range of bioactives.
In traditional Chinese medicine, wild Cordyceps was reserved for royalty and the wealthy due to its rarity and cost. Chinese sprinters famously attributed their record-breaking performances at the 1993 World Championships to Cordyceps supplementation, which sparked global interest in the mushroom. Cultivated C. militaris emerged as a sustainable, affordable, and bioactively rich alternative to wild harvesting and is now the primary form used in modern research.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
