This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Contrast hydrotherapy means deliberately alternating between hot and cold water — either in a shower, a bath, or full immersion pools — to create a pumping effect in your blood vessels. The heat causes blood vessels to open wide, and the cold causes them to clamp down, and repeating this cycle is like giving your circulatory system a workout. It has been a cornerstone of European naturopathic spas for over 200 years and is now widely used by elite athletes and physical therapists around the world.
When you apply heat, your blood vessels dilate and blood rushes toward the surface of the skin and muscles. When cold follows, those vessels constrict and blood is pushed back toward your core and organs. Alternating this repeatedly creates a vascular pumping action that clears metabolic waste products (like lactic acid) from tired muscles faster than rest alone, reduces localized swelling, and stimulates the lymphatic system. Cold exposure also triggers the release of norepinephrine, which plays a role in reducing pain and inflammation.
Contrast showers are the most accessible form — simply turn the water hot for 3 minutes, cold for 1 minute, and repeat. Contrast baths involve submerging a limb (like a sprained ankle) in a hot tub and then a cold tub alternately. Full-body contrast plunge pools (hot tub to cold plunge) are used in sports medicine and Scandinavian spa culture. Saunas followed by cold plunge or cold shower are a culturally embedded version of the same principle.
The modern formalization of contrast hydrotherapy is credited to Sebastian Kneipp, a 19th-century Bavarian priest and naturopath who developed detailed water-cure protocols still practiced in German health spas ('Kneipp Kuren') today. Vincent Priessnitz, an Austrian farmer, independently developed cold water immersion treatments in the 1820s and drew thousands of patients to his clinic. The ancient Romans used a sequence of caldarium (hot room), tepidarium (warm room), and frigidarium (cold pool) in their public baths — an intuitive contrast system. Nordic sauna-then-cold-lake culture represents perhaps the oldest living continuous practice of the same principle.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
