Wiped out for days after errands
You run a few errands. The next day, you can barely get out of bed. The crash can drag on for two days, or a week.
Doctors call this post-exertional malaise. It means a crash that follows after you spend energy. The payback often hits 12 to 48 hours later, not right away.
This delayed crash is a core sign of ME/CFS, also called chronic fatigue syndrome. Other things can drain you the same way. Low iron, thyroid trouble, sleep apnea, low mood, or a recent infection are all worth ruling out.
When to see someone
See a doctor if this is new or getting worse fast. Go soon for chest pain, trouble breathing, fainting, or a fever that lasts. Weight loss, night sweats, swollen glands, new weakness, or thoughts of self-harm need care now.
Below are remedies that people have long used for this kind of crash. Each one has an evidence grade showing how much research backs it. Talk with your doctor before you try any of them, and keep your own notes.
