Wake up to a wet bed
You went to bed dry. You wake to damp sheets and damp clothes. Most nights you slept right through it and felt nothing at all.
Adults can leak urine in sleep for many reasons. Your body may make more urine at night than your bladder can hold. The bladder muscle can also squeeze on its own while you sleep.
Other things play a part. Deep sleep, water pills, drink late at night, or hard stools can all matter. So can a weak pelvic floor, a large prostate, high blood sugar, or sleep apnea, where breathing stops and starts at night.
When to see someone
See a doctor if wet nights are new for you as an adult. Go soon if you see blood in your urine, or feel burning, fever, or back pain. Get checked too for numb hips, weak legs, big thirst, fast weight loss, or loud snoring with gasping.
The list below holds remedies people have used for night-time leaks. Each one has a grade for how strong the evidence behind it is. A grade is not a promise, so talk with your doctor before you start anything.
