Suddenly dizzy and worn out
One minute you feel fine. The next, the room tilts and your legs feel heavy. A wave of tiredness rolls over you for no clear reason.
One cause is a heart that beats out of step. In atrial fibrillation, the top chambers of the heart quiver instead of beating in time. Less blood moves out to your brain and muscles, so you can feel light-headed and drained.
Other causes are common too. Low iron, low blood sugar, too little fluid, inner ear trouble, or some medicines can bring on the same mix. Only tests can tell these apart.
When to see someone
Get emergency help if you faint or nearly black out. Do the same for chest pain, a pulse that races or flutters and will not settle, or hard breathing.
Call right away for a droopy face, slurred speech, or weakness on one side. Book a doctor soon if the dizzy spells keep coming back.
Below you will find remedies linked to atrial fibrillation, each with an evidence grade. The grade shows how much solid research exists, high or low. It is not a promise of results, so show the list to your doctor first, since some items clash with heart drugs.
