Heart flutters and skips beats
You feel a flip or a thud in your chest. Then comes a pause, like a beat got missed. Some people feel it in the throat or neck.
These spells can last a few seconds or much longer. They often show up when you sit still or lie down at night. You may also feel dizzy, short of breath, or worn out.
Stress, caffeine, alcohol, and poor sleep are common triggers. So are some cold pills, thyroid trouble, and low iron. Skipped beats can also come from atrial fibrillation, a fast and uneven heart rhythm.
When to see someone
Call for emergency help if you have chest pain, trouble breathing, or you faint. Get help fast if you break out in a cold sweat, or feel pain in your arm or jaw. See a doctor soon if the beats keep coming back, last many minutes, or leave you dizzy and weak.
Below is a list of remedies tied to this heart rhythm. Each one has a grade that shows how strong the proof is. A low grade means the proof is thin, so check with your doctor first.
