Periods stopped since losing weight
Your periods used to come on their own. Then you lost weight, and they stopped. Maybe you skipped one month, then two, and now you are not sure when the last one was.
Your body reads weight loss as a sign of hard times. When food is short, the brain turns down the signals that start a cycle. This can follow dieting, hard training, or an illness.
Low body fat plays a part. So does eating less than you burn, and stress can add to it. Losing weight fast seems to matter more than the number on the scale.
When to see someone
See a doctor if you have missed three periods in a row. Go sooner if you faint, break a bone easily, or could be pregnant. Milky fluid from your nipples, bad headaches, vision changes, or eating very little also need a check.
Below are traditional remedies linked to absent periods, each with an evidence grade. The grade shows how much research stands behind it, not what it will do for you. Read the grades first, and talk to your doctor before trying anything.
