No period for three months
Three months have gone by with no period. You may feel fine, or you may feel off in ways you cannot name. Either way, the wait sits on your mind.
Doctors call this amenorrhea, which just means your periods have stopped. Pregnancy is the first thing to rule out, even if it seems unlikely. A home test is a good place to start.
Stress, hard training, and fast weight change can all pause a cycle. So can thyroid problems, PCOS, or a hormone called prolactin. Birth control, some drugs, and the years near menopause play a part too.
When to see someone
Take a home pregnancy test first, and tell your doctor the result. Call a doctor for milk from your breasts, new facial hair, bad headaches, or blurred vision. Get seen for belly pain, fast weight change, or a period that never started at all.
Below is a list of remedies people have used when periods stop. Each one has a grade for how strong the proof behind it is. A grade is not advice, so talk with your doctor before you try anything.
