Knuckles puffy and warm to touch
Your knuckles look puffy. The skin over them feels warm when you touch it. Rings feel tight, and making a fist can hurt.
Warmth and puffiness mean swelling inside the joint. This can happen with rheumatoid arthritis, where the body attacks its own joint lining. It often hits the same knuckles on both hands.
Other things can do this too. A knock, gout, or an infection can make one knuckle hot and swollen. Many sore joints at once is a different picture from just one.
When to see someone
See a doctor fast if one knuckle is hot, red and very sore. A fever with it can mean an infection in the joint. Book a visit if swelling lasts weeks, hits both hands, or comes with fever or weight loss.
Below are folk and natural remedies linked to rheumatoid arthritis. Each one has a grade that shows how much research stands behind it, not how it will go for you. Read the grade first, and check with your doctor before you try any of them.
