I finish within a minute

Sex starts, and then it is over fast. You may finish in under a minute. For some men, it happens as soon as sex begins.

This is common, and it is not a sign of weakness. Nerves, high excitement, or a long gap since the last time can play a part. So can stress, worry about how you will do, or a new partner.

Your body can play a part too. Very sensitive skin, thyroid trouble, or a swollen prostate are known causes. Doctors call this pattern premature ejaculation.

When to see someone

See a doctor if this is new for you, or if you also feel pain when you climax, see blood in your semen, or feel burning when you pee. Go as well if you struggle to get or keep an erection, or if you find a sore, swollen spot in your groin. Book a visit too if you feel low or hopeless, or if you have begun to avoid sex.

Below is a list of remedies that people have long used for this complaint. Each one carries a grade for the strength of the research behind it. A higher grade means more study, not a promise, so read the grades with care and talk them over with your doctor.

Premature Ejaculation: natural remedies and the evidence behind them

What feels like the biggest driver of finishing sooner than you'd like?

I go from zero to the point of no return too fast — I want to train real control over my body's signals

  1. Acupuncture

Supported by smaller clinical studies· Centuries of traditional use (Evidence grade B · Traditional use long-standing)Long-standing traditional staple

Outperformed sham treatment in a randomized trial

    Why this matches
Acupuncture addresses both the physical and stress-related dimensions that contribute to loss of control.
    Why try it
In a randomized trial, men who received real acupuncture gained significantly more ejaculatory control than men who received sham (fake) acupuncture. The effect was more modest than the prescription medication tested in the same study, so think of it as a gentler, drug-free option rather than the most powerful one.
    Dose or use
Work with a qualified, licensed practitioner; ask them how many sessions and how often are right for you.
    Time to results
    Typically 4–8 weeks of sessions
    Key study
Randomized Controlled Trial (2016, PMID 27049323): A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study to Compare Acupuncture and Dapoxetine for the Treatment of Premature Ejaculation - 120 men with PE were randomized to dapoxetine 30 mg, dapoxetine 60 mg, acupuncture, or sham acupuncture; after 4 weeks, acupuncture lengthened ejaculatory latency significantly more than sham, though less than dapoxetine.
    Caution
Seek a licensed acupuncturist; tell them about any medications.
  2. Biofeedback

Limited human trials so far· Most of the research is laboratory or animal work (Evidence grade C · No traditional record)

Builds arousal awareness; adjunct to care

    Why this matches
If a mind-body approach appeals to you, biofeedback trains you to notice and respond to your body's arousal signals so you feel more in control.
    Why try it
In a randomized trial, biofeedback improved ejaculatory control when it was used together with the medication dapoxetine; it has not been shown to work on its own, so think of it as a complement alongside other care rather than a proven standalone therapy.
    Dose or use
Guided sessions with a pelvic-floor/biofeedback therapist over 4-8 weeks.
    Time to results
    Typically 4–8 weeks
    Key study
RCT (2022, PMID 35947279): biofeedback combined with dapoxetine improved lifelong premature ejaculation; the trial tested the combination, not biofeedback used alone.
    Caution
Best guided by a trained therapist or pelvic health specialist.
  3. Yoga

Centuries of traditional use· Limited human trials so far (Evidence grade C · Traditional use long-standing)Long-standing traditional staple

Mind-body practice with promising pooled results

    Why this matches
If calming the mind and getting out of your head is your goal, yoga combines movement, breath control, and relaxation - directly targeting the anxiety and autonomic arousal that drive loss of control.
    Why try it
A 2025 pooled analysis of five small studies found that men practicing yoga gained meaningful ejaculatory control, with essentially no side effects reported. Because the studies were small and mostly not randomized, treat yoga as a promising, low-risk option rather than an established therapy.
    Dose or use
Practice a general routine of postures, breathing exercises, and relaxation for 30-60 minutes most days; studies used regular practice over roughly 8-12 weeks, ideally learned from a qualified instructor.
    Time to results
Typically 8-12 weeks of regular practice
    Key study
Systematic Review (2025, PMID 41743299): Effect of Yoga in Premature Ejaculation: A Systemic Review and Meta-analysis - a pooled analysis of five small studies found a significant improvement in ejaculatory control with yoga (in one comparison, greater than fluoxetine), but most included studies were not randomized and results varied widely, so the evidence remains preliminary.
    Caution
Yoga is generally safe; progress gently if you have joint, back, or cardiovascular problems, and learn from a qualified instructor if you are new to the practice.

  4. Magnesium Deficiency

Centuries of traditional use· Human evidence not yet assessed (Evidence grade not assigned · Traditional use long-standing)Long-standing traditional staple

Low magnesium can fuel anxiety and tension

    Why this matches
If anxiety and being on edge are part of it, low magnesium is worth checking, since it plays a direct role in calming nerve signals and relaxing muscles.
    Why try it
Magnesium supports normal nerve signaling and muscle relaxation, and a genuine deficiency can show up as restlessness, anxiety, and poor sleep. This addresses a possible underlying deficiency rather than treating premature ejaculation directly.
    Dose or use
Ask a clinician to check your levels; food sources include leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and whole grains, with a supplement if a shortfall is confirmed.
    Time to results
Weeks, if a confirmed deficiency is corrected

    Caution
High-dose magnesium supplements can cause loose stools and may interact with some medications; correct a confirmed shortfall rather than mega-dosing.

It feels like depleted stamina or vitality — I want to rebuild it from the ground up

  1. Tamarind (Tamr Hindi)

Centuries of traditional use· Limited human trials so far (Evidence grade C · Traditional use long-standing)Long-standing traditional staple

Small trial matched a prescription comparator

    Why this matches
Tamarind (Tamr Hindi) is a long-used remedy in Persian and other Eastern herbal traditions, making it a fit if traditional plant-based approaches appeal to you.
    Why try it
In a small double-blind trial, men taking tamarind seed extract improved about as much over four weeks as men taking the antidepressant sertraline, with minimal side effects. With only 41 participants and no placebo group, this is early, encouraging evidence rather than proof.
    Dose or use
The clinical trial used 80 mg of tamarind seed extract daily for 4 weeks; if you try it, choose a reputable seed-extract product and follow its labeling.
    Time to results
About 4 weeks in the clinical trial
    Key study
Randomized Controlled Trial (2025, PMID 42038832): Comparison of the Effects of Tamarind Seed Extract (Tamarindus Indica L.) with Sertraline in Treating Premature Ejaculation: A Randomized Double-blind Trial - 41 men were randomized double-blind to 80 mg tamarind seed extract or 50 mg sertraline daily for 4 weeks; both groups improved similarly with minimal side effects, but the trial was small and had no placebo arm, so equivalence is not established.
    Caution
Early evidence only; talk with a clinician before combining it with antidepressants or other medications, and avoid it if you are allergic to tamarind.
  2. Moxibustion

Centuries of traditional use· Limited human trials so far (Evidence grade C · Traditional use long-standing)Long-standing traditional staple

    Traditional warming therapy for vitality

    Why this matches
Moxibustion is a cornerstone of traditional Eastern medicine for supporting kidney and reproductive vitality.
    Why try it
Traditionally used alongside acupuncture to warm the body's meridians and support sexual stamina. A recent randomized trial of warm acupuncture with large-quantity moxibustion reported improved control in men with premature ejaculation, though the study tested the combined technique, so moxibustion's own contribution is not yet clear.
    Dose or use
Performed by a trained practitioner who warms specific acupuncture points with burning mugwort (moxa); ask your practitioner how many sessions are appropriate - courses in research ran several weeks.
    Time to results
    Typically 4–8 weeks
    Key study
Randomized Controlled Trial (2024, PMID 39111790): warm acupuncture with large-quantity moxibustion improved primary premature ejaculation of a kidney-deficiency/liver-stagnation pattern in a randomized trial; because moxibustion was combined with acupuncture, its independent effect cannot be isolated.
    Caution
Should be performed by a trained practitioner; avoid near sensitive skin areas.

If you'd rather check for an underlying imbalance, zinc is a good place to start, since it's central to male reproductive and hormonal function.
    Why try it
Zinc is essential for healthy testosterone and reproductive function, and a genuine deficiency can impair sexual development and function. This addresses a possible underlying deficiency rather than treating premature ejaculation directly.
    Dose or use
Ask a clinician to check your zinc status; food sources include oysters, meat, and pumpkin seeds, with a supplement if a deficiency is confirmed.
    Time to results
Weeks, if a confirmed deficiency is corrected
    Key study
This is an underlying nutrient deficiency, not a treatment; zinc's role in male reproductive and hormonal health is well established, but correcting it as a therapy for premature ejaculation has not been confirmed in controlled clinical trials.
    Caution

    Caution
Long-term high-dose zinc can deplete copper and upset the stomach; supplement only to correct a confirmed shortfall.

Evidence grades describe the strength of published research for Premature Ejaculation, not a promise of results. Nothing here is medical advice — talk to your clinician before starting anything, especially alongside prescription medication.

This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!
