Face feels heavy around my cheeks
Your cheeks feel full and weighed down, like they are packed. Bending forward or lying flat often makes it worse. Some days it is a dull ache under the eyes.
Behind each cheek sits a hollow space called a sinus. These spaces make mucus and drain it into your nose. When the lining swells, the mucus backs up and you feel pressure.
Long-lasting swelling in the sinuses is one common cause. Allergies, colds, smoke, and dry air can all play a part. Upper back teeth can also ache into the cheek, since their roots sit near the sinus.
When to see someone
See a doctor if you run a fever, your face swells, or this drags on past ten days. Go the same day for a bad headache, vision changes, a stiff neck, or new confusion. See a dentist if one upper tooth aches or hurts to bite on.
Below is a list of remedies linked to long-term sinus trouble. Each one carries a grade for how strong the research is. A grade is not a promise of results, so check with your doctor first.
