This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Zhu Ru consists of the thin, fibrous inner shavings scraped from the stem internodes of bamboo species such as Bambusa tuldoides or Phyllostachys nigra var. henonis. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is classified as a cool-natured herb that clears heat, transforms phlegm, and calms the stomach and mind. It has been a cornerstone ingredient in classical TCM formulas for nausea, cough with sticky phlegm, and heat-related emotional disturbances for over two millennia.
Zhu Ru is thought to work by cooling excess heat in the stomach meridian — which in TCM is understood as the root cause of upward-rebellious stomach energy that triggers nausea and vomiting. Its flavonoid compounds, particularly orientin and vitexin, are thought to have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and mild sedative properties that may help explain its traditional reputation for calming the nervous system and soothing irritated mucous membranes. Preliminary laboratory and observational findings suggest its polysaccharides and phenolic compounds may also support immune regulation and reduce airway inflammation, though these effects have not been verified in rigorous clinical trials.
Zhu Ru is most traditionally prepared as a water decoction, either alone or combined with other herbs in classical formulas like Wen Dan Tang (Warm the Gallbladder Decoction) or Ju Pi Zhu Ru Tang. In modern TCM clinics, concentrated granule extracts are common for convenience. Patent pills containing Zhu Ru as a key ingredient are also widely available, especially for nausea and phlegm-heat conditions.
Zhu Ru has been documented in Chinese pharmacopoeias since at least the Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE) and is prominently featured in the Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing and later in Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica (1578 CE). It has remained a continuously used TCM herb across the full span of classical Chinese medicine, appearing in dozens of classical formulas still prescribed today. Bamboo itself held deep cultural significance in China as a symbol of resilience and integrity, and its medicinal inner shavings were considered a gentler, cooling counterpart to harsher heat-clearing herbs.
