This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Seed cycling is a naturopathic practice that involves eating specific seeds during each phase of the menstrual cycle to provide targeted nutritional support for estrogen and progesterone production. During the follicular phase (days 1–14), flaxseeds and pumpkin seeds are consumed; during the luteal phase (days 15–28), sesame and sunflower seeds take their place. The idea is that each seed variety supplies the specific fats, minerals, and plant compounds the body needs most during that hormonal window.
Flaxseeds are rich in lignans — plant compounds that can gently modulate estrogen activity, helping keep levels in a healthy range during the first half of the cycle when estrogen naturally rises. Pumpkin seeds supply zinc, which supports the shift to progesterone production after ovulation. In the luteal phase, sesame seeds add selenium and more lignans to support liver detoxification of used hormones, while sunflower seeds provide vitamin E and omega-6 fats that support progesterone levels and reduce inflammation. Together, the seeds provide a steady rotation of nutrients that mirror and gently support the body's own hormonal rhythm.
Seeds are most effective when freshly ground just before eating, as grinding breaks the outer hull and dramatically improves absorption of lignans and fats. Pre-ground seed blends are convenient but should be stored in the fridge or freezer to prevent rancidity. Whole seeds pass largely undigested and are less effective for hormonal purposes. A standard serving is 1–2 tablespoons per day of each seed type.
Seed cycling emerged from naturopathic medicine in North America over the past few decades, though it draws on longstanding traditions of using seeds and plant foods medicinally across Ayurvedic and traditional herbal systems. It gained mainstream popularity in the 2010s through integrative health communities and social media, though formal clinical trials on the combined protocol are still limited. The individual seeds used, particularly flaxseed and sesame, have their own deep research histories in hormonal and cardiovascular health.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
