This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Sausage Tree (Kigelia africana) is a striking African tree named for its enormous sausage-shaped fruits that hang from long rope-like stalks. Native to tropical and sub-Saharan Africa, it has been a cornerstone of traditional healing in communities from Senegal to South Africa for hundreds of years. The fruit, bark, roots, and leaves are all used medicinally, with the fruit extract now finding its way into modern skincare and natural medicine.
Sausage Tree contains a rich blend of naphthoquinones, iridoids, and flavonoids that work together to fight harmful microbes, calm inflammation, and protect skin cells from damage. The iridoid compounds — particularly specioside and verminoside — appear to slow the growth of abnormal cells, which is why researchers have been exploring the plant's potential against certain skin conditions. Antioxidant compounds like ferulic acid and quercetin help protect tissues from oxidative stress and support the skin's natural repair processes.
Standardized fruit extract in topical creams and serums is the most studied and widely available form, used in both pharmaceutical-grade skincare and natural medicine. Bark decoctions and tinctures are the traditional forms used internally in African herbal practice. Dried fruit powder can be prepared as a wash or paste. For internal use, always use a commercially standardized extract — raw unprocessed fruit contains compounds that can be toxic in large amounts.
Across sub-Saharan Africa, virtually every part of the Sausage Tree has served a medicinal purpose for centuries. The Zulu use the fruit for skin sores and boils; the Tswana apply it to rheumatism and wounds; communities in West Africa use bark decoctions for sexually transmitted infections, malaria, and digestive complaints. Traditional healers in East Africa have long applied the fruit topically for skin cancer-like lesions, a use that modern researchers found intriguing enough to investigate with laboratory and early clinical methods.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
