This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Lonicera japonica — known in Chinese as Jin Yin Hua, meaning 'Gold-Silver Flower' — is a climbing vine whose buds are harvested just before opening for maximum medicinal potency. It has been a cornerstone of Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 1,500 years, appearing in classical texts as a premier herb for clearing heat and resolving toxicity. Today it remains one of the most widely used herbs in Chinese clinical practice and is the subject of a growing body of modern pharmacological research.
Honeysuckle's benefits come largely from its rich polyphenol content — especially chlorogenic acid and luteolin — which work together to tone down the body's inflammatory signaling, fight bacteria and viruses, and support antioxidant defenses. Chlorogenic acid in particular has been shown to block key pathways that trigger inflammation and may slow viral replication. In TCM terms, the herb 'clears heat and resolves fire toxin,' which maps closely onto what we now understand as its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory actions.
Dried flowers brewed as tea are the most traditional preparation and widely available. Standardized extracts (capsules or tablets, often standardized to chlorogenic acid content) offer convenience and consistent dosing. Topical preparations are used for skin inflammation and minor infections. In Chinese hospitals, injectable forms exist but are not used outside clinical settings. Granule formulas (often combined with other TCM herbs) are common in modern Chinese clinical practice.
Jin Yin Hua appears in the Shennong Bencao Jing (Divine Farmer's Classic of Materia Medica) and is prominently featured in the Qing Dynasty formulary Wenbing Tiaobian for treating 'warm disease' epidemics — what we would now recognize as febrile infectious illness. It has been used across China, Japan, and Korea for centuries, and is officially listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. During the SARS outbreak in 2003 and COVID-19 in 2020, several Chinese government-endorsed formulas prominently featured Jin Yin Hua, bringing renewed global attention to the herb.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
