This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Corn silk is the silky tuft of fibers that grows from the top of a corn cob — the part most people toss away. These threads are packed with plant compounds that have been used medicinally for hundreds of years by Indigenous peoples of the Americas and later adopted into Traditional Chinese Medicine and folk medicine worldwide. Today it's available as a tea, capsule, or liquid extract and is gaining renewed attention for its role in urinary health and metabolic support.
Corn silk has a natural mild diuretic effect, helping the kidneys flush out excess fluid and waste — which is why it's traditionally used for urinary discomfort and bloating. Its flavonoids, particularly maysin and luteolin, help calm inflammation in the bladder lining and urinary tract. It also appears to support healthy blood sugar by slowing how quickly sugar enters the bloodstream and nudging the body to use insulin more effectively.
Tea made from dried corn silk is the most traditional form and delivers a mild, slightly sweet flavor. Capsules offer convenience and standardized dosing. Liquid extracts and tinctures are concentrated and fast-absorbing. Fresh corn silk can be used directly when corn is in season.
Native American tribes across North and South America used corn silk tea to treat bladder infections, kidney stones, and fluid retention long before European contact. It was formally documented in the U.S. Pharmacopeia in the late 1800s as a urinary demulcent. In Traditional Chinese Medicine it is called Yu Mi Xu and is still used today to drain dampness and support the kidneys. French herbalists called it Barbe de maïs and used it similarly in European folk medicine.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
