This app is so cool! I've always wanted there to be a hub for all NATURAL remedies and preventative options but l've always had to do loads of digging to find the info I wanted for different natural products. HealisticMD has all the info I need in one place. It gave me various natural supplemental options for a condition I looked up, including what each remedy does and how much is usually recommended to take. It also gave me exact products I could buy for the problem I had looked up. It makes my process SO MUCH easier when I need to find non-pharmaceutical solutions to my needs.

There is a wealth of information on the app! I recently had bloodwork done and found I was deficient in a handful of vitamins and minerals (Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, etc.) HealisticMD made it simple for me to find out what foods to eat/ supplements I needed to improve these deficiencies. It gives you so many ideas on prevention, natural health tips, where to buy the vitamins, when to take them, why, etc. I love how easy the app is to use too. I am currently working on getting pregnant. I was pleasantly surprised to find compelling data along with supplement suggestions to aid in the process, some of which my fertility doctor wasn’t even aware of. Highly recommend downloading, after all health is one our greatest gifts!

Agaricus blazei Murill (ABM) is a basidiomycete mushroom originally found growing wild near Piedade, Brazil, where local communities consumed it regularly and attributed unusually low rates of adult-onset disease to it. In the 1960s, Japanese researchers brought it back to Japan, sparking decades of scientific investigation — particularly in cancer biology and immunology. Today it is one of the most widely researched medicinal mushrooms in the world, widely used in Japan, Brazil, and increasingly in integrative medicine globally.
ABM's most studied compounds are its beta-glucans — long-chain sugars that bind to receptors on your immune cells (especially natural killer cells and macrophages) and effectively 'train' them to be more active and responsive. Think of it as giving your immune system a gentle daily workout. On the blood sugar side, ABM appears to help the body respond to insulin more efficiently and may slow how quickly carbohydrates are absorbed. Its antioxidant compounds also help reduce low-grade inflammation, which underlies many chronic conditions.
Hot water extracts and standardized capsules deliver the most concentrated and bioavailable beta-glucans, making them the preferred choice for therapeutic use. Dried whole mushroom powder retains the full spectrum of compounds but may require higher doses to match extract potency. Teas and decoctions are the traditional Brazilian and Japanese preparation and are a valid option for everyday use. Look for products standardized to beta-glucan content (ideally 15–30%) for consistency.
ABM was a staple of the diet and folk medicine of communities in the Atlantic coastal region of São Paulo state, Brazil. Local residents long believed it contributed to their health and longevity. Japanese scientist Takatoshi Furumoto collected samples in the 1960s and brought them to Japan, where intensive cultivation and clinical research began. It became enormously popular in Japan through the 1980s–2000s as a complementary cancer therapy, and has since been studied in clinical trials across Japan, Brazil, Norway, and South Korea.
What it is typically used for, usual dose, cautions, and the study behind it where real trial data exists.
