Losing weight but always hungry
You clean your plate and still feel hungry. You may be eating more than you used to. Yet your clothes feel loose and the scale keeps dropping.
This mix can happen when your thyroid runs fast. The thyroid is a small gland in the front of your neck. It sets the speed at which your body burns fuel.
When that speed is too high, you burn more than you take in. Other things can do this too, such as high blood sugar, gut trouble, some drugs, or long stress. Many people also feel warm, shaky, or on edge.
When to see someone
See a doctor soon if you have dropped weight without trying, or if hunger keeps growing. Go the same day for chest pain, a pounding pulse, bad shakes, or a fever with hot flushed skin. Book a visit too if your neck looks swollen, your eyes bulge, or you feel faint.
Below is a list of folk and home remedies used by people with an overactive thyroid. Each one has a grade that shows how strong the research behind it is. A grade is not a promise, so talk with your doctor before you try any of them.
